REMINGTON (REMI)
Mr. Remington (Remi) is a total sweetheart!
Remi loves to jump and run around at the park while on leash. He’s extremely affectionate and loves to cuddle—which is a total bonus. He’ll nap perfectly beside his fosters while they’re working or will even crawl nicely into bed. He’s the goodest boy looking to be the bestest friend! If his foster’s in the other room with the door closed, he does become upset and steals shoes. He’s a quirky guy, but we think it’s part of his charm. He’s also warming up to car rides, but they aren’t his ideal date just yet.
Remi is super friendly with other dogs and is eager to play. He starts off calm and inquisitive, and once they’re deemed “friends” he gets a big burst of energy, almost as if he’s saying “Oh, wow! A new friend! Big excite!”
Although he’s happy to receive love from his foster family, and people he knows, he typically ignores strangers on the streets because he’s got the street smarts. Fun fact: Remi’s also cool as a cucumber when it comes to cats, but will sometimes lunge towards them as he’s really determined to have a play buddy.
Remi would be well suited in a home with another dog so that he can burn off some energy and enjoy the companionship. Remi’s considered a medium energy dog, and walks about 5KMs/day with his fosters. He loves running sprints with them, and keeping busy outside, and stairs keep him spry. The ideal family would have someone strong to walk him who can keep him close by as he’s got quite a strong pull, and when he’s startled, his flight instincts tend to kick in. He’s demonstrated leash reactivity and high prey drive so his forever family’ll need to work on this with him.
This smart guy has only had one accident since he’s been with his foster, and can typically hold himself for good amounts of time. He’s potty trained, and is working on crate training as he isn’t exactly a huge fan of it, but will eventually settle if he’s been exercised well enough beforehand. If he’s upset, he will destroy the blanket or pillow given to him, therefore, he is not 100% crate trained. Remi is also a little bit chatty in the crate so if you’re in an apartment or condo, it’s probably best that it’s mostly soundproof. He’s also got a wicked jump so an extra high fence in a backyard would be better.
“He loves to roll on his back and make silly faces. He really prefers beds (human or dog) or chairs or cushions. He will wHine if there is no comfy place to lay down. He loves a good walk and play session and hanging out with other dogs. Then he'd probably be keen on cuddles while you read. He can get snippy from time to time while playing and he showed resource guarding once but since hasn't been doing that.” – Remi’s Foster Parent.
