GOOD WITH HUMANS (ADULTS & KIDS)

MONTY.

  • Looking for a pint-sized pup with a heart full of love and a bed full of stolen laundry? Meet Monty, a 9-pound bundle of joy who’s equal parts playful, snuggly, and determined. He may be small, but his personality is anything but!

Monty is a social butterfly (or maybe a social bumblebee—he does have a bit of a buzz about him). He adores his foster family, especially the kids (ages 11 and 13), and is always thrilled to see them come home from school. He follows them around like a shadow, ready to play fetch or just bask in their company. With new human friends, Monty is friendly and curious, sometimes cautious at first, but always eager to sniff out a potential new bestie.

With dogs, Monty has shown to be social, although he might be a little shy at first. Once he knows the dog is a friend and not a foe, he will open up and loves to play. He has not shown reactivity to dogs while on leash. As for cats? Monty has met one while with us. He was curious and not fearful even when the cat was hissing at him.

Monty is well on his way to being a good little gentleman. He comes when called and is learning “stay” (though he might argue that staying still is overrated). He’s mostly potty trained, with occasional accidents, but never in his crate. Speaking of which—he LOVES his crate! He sleeps soundly from 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and settles quickly when placed inside during the day.

Due to a genetic bilateral hip malformation, Monty may face mobility challenges as he gets older. Stairs are tough for him—he can manage a single carpeted step but struggles with more. He’ll need to be carried up and down multiple stairs, making a condo or bungalow the ideal home for him. Despite this, he’s full of energy and loves to run, play, and (attempt to) leap onto furniture. If determination had a mascot, it would be Monty.

Monty has a passion for “collecting” fabric items—dish towels, socks, mitts, hats—you name it, he’ll proudly bring it to his dog bed like a little treasure hoarder. His dedication to this hobby once led to his temporary crating during laundry folding (for everyone’s sanity).

He’s also a bit of an athlete. While he can’t do stairs, he has no problem zooming around during playtime. He does a signature “panic poop dance” to let you know he needs to go outside ASAP—a real warning system you won’t want to ignore!

Monty isn’t much of a barker. In fact, he mostly “whisper barks” at his own reflection (stove and sliding glass doors, beware). He does yelp if he wants to be picked up and gets a little skittish around loud noises (blenders are particularly suspicious). Strangely enough, while he’s curious about the robot vacuum, he’s afraid of the dark and won’t enter a pitch-black room—so be prepared to be his guiding light.

Monty is the perfect mix of playful and chill. He loves to be with his humans but settles beautifully in his crate when left alone. He’s affectionate, snuggly, and always up for hanging out. If you’re looking for a loyal little buddy who will make you laugh daily, Monty is your guy. He has brought so much joy to his foster family, and while they would love to keep him, they know he deserves a home that best fits his needs.

If you’re ready to welcome a lovable, fabric-obsessed, zoomie-loving pup into your home, Monty is waiting to meet you!
