GEMINI.

1 . 5 Y | F | 40 LBS | MEXI MUTT

Move over Virgo season – it’s time to meet Gemini! This sweet girl with the big smile is a rescue from Mexico, where she was abandoned by her human parents when they moved. Several days passed before the neighbour’s noticed she was alone inside the house, and after multiple attempts, they managed to free her. She was starving, but thankfully our amazing friends @thedoggoprojectmexico took her in and cared for her until she was about to come to MUTTS. Now, Gemini is ready to leave her past behind her and meet her new family!

Gemini is a sweet and funny girl who really loves the simple life! She’s wonderfully friendly, offering lots of tail wags when meeting new humans. She can be more cautious with male strangers, taking longer to warm up to males than to females, but she has never exhibited any aggressive behaviours. Once she’s comfortable, she’s happy to play, and especially enjoys fetching her Kong or playing tug-o-war. Gemini would thrive in a calm home – a busy home may be tough for her to adapt to. She enjoys her independence, often opting to hang on her bed while her foster watches TV. She’s shown to be a bit clingier when her foster is in the kitchen (…all dog owners can relate!) but will leave when told “no.” While she’s currently being fostered in an apartment and doing well, she frequently gets the zoomies and may love to have a backyard where she can run freely. That said, she will likely be content once provided with enough mental and physical stimulation. Gemini can be shy in new situations – new noises sometimes startle her – but she settles down quickly. She even recently passed the “thunderstorm test” and wasn’t concerned at all!

When asked about her ideal weekend, Gemini got straight to the point: “Lots of walks and butt scratches, please!” And some playtime with her Kong for good measure. Gemini enjoys several 2km walks per day, plus lots of backyard time. She’s a joy on the leash: she doesn’t pull too hard and will, for the most part, walk by her foster’s side. She will pull if when she sees a squirrel and may give an occasional bark, but it’s more-so out of curiosity. When she spots other dogs on walks, she sometimes approaches slowly to say hello and other times will avoid them (especially if the other dog is barking or growling). She’s shown an interest in meeting the neighbour’s dog through the fence. It’s best that any future introductions be handled with patience! Back at home, Gemini has been shaping up lots of basic commands (practicing both inside and in the backyard). She does not have any separation anxiety and though she sometimes needs a bit of guidance to go into her crate when the time comes, she’s calm and quiet once inside.

Gemini 100% potty-trained, microchipped, up to date with her vaccines and spayed.
