GOOD WITH WOMEN (SOME MEN WITH TIME), KIDS, AND SMALLER DOGS

Meet Claire, our sweet and resilient four-legged friend who's ready to find her forever home! Claire is a four-to-five year old Boxer x who was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. With a heart full of love and a spirit that shines brightly despite her past, Claire is looking for a family that will help her continue her journey to confidence and happiness. Though initially shy, her gentle nature and loving personality make her the perfect companion for those willing to give her the patience and support she needs!

When meeting other dogs, Claire prefers the company of smaller pups, or those of similar size. She’s wary of larger dogs, especially if they approach too quickly. All introductions to new dogs should be done in a neutral area. Since settling in with her foster, Claire has become quite protective. This did result in a minor scuffle between Claire and her foster’s family dog during a visit (no damage done), so we believe a single-dog household with experienced dog owners is the best spot for Claire to land!

Claire is great with kids, especially if they approach her calmly and gently. She is cautious around new people, especially men, but she warms up to women more quickly. She may bark a few times when new people enter her home, but settles once she feels secure. Claire has already become quite attached to her foster and has exhibited signs of separation anxiety when her foster leaves the room, even briefly (barking, howling, etc.). She’s better if there is someone else in the room with her, but much prefers the company of her foster. One key to Claire’s success with her adopters will be having a stable home and routine.

In terms of training, Claire is still learning the basics. She will sit for food but hasn't fully grasped it as a command yet. Her resilience is evident in her willingness to learn and adapt, as seen when she mastered stairs after some initial hesitation. Claire would be the perfect candidate to work with a trainer or an experienced handler who is able to commit to giving our sweet girl the best opportunity to thrive! Claire is potty trained and has adjusted well to her foster home, indicating her ability to adapt to new routines with patience and support. A secure crate is recommended, as she has shown the ability to escape from a regular one.

Claire's quirks make her even more lovable. She adores cuddling and will happily curl up right under your arm, seeking warmth and affection. She enjoys short walks and rolling in the grass, and she's a homebody at heart, preferring the comfort of the couch to high-energy activities. Claire is motivated by food and eats enthusiastically, sometimes a bit too quickly. Her curious nature means she loves to sniff new people and things, but she prefers to keep her distance until she feels safe.

Claire is spayed, microchipped, and up to date with her vaccines.

Claire is the best girl, who needs a calm, loving and routine-based environment to thrive. She would do best with a single person or couple who can provide her with the attention and care she needs, though a family willing to work with her at her own pace could also be a great match. Claire deserves a home where her new family will advocate for her, help build her confidence, and patiently support her through new experiences. With the right love and care, Claire will undoubtedly flourish and bring immense joy to her forever home! We can’t wait for sweet Claire to meet her people!
