CAMILLA.

Have you met Camilla?

This little duchess will cuddle you if you pick her up, and is a very big fan of laying in the back yard and working on her highlights!

Camilla is a shy and timid dog. Her current foster is working on her confidence through exposure, and we're seeing great improvements. When she first came to MUTTS, her encounters with situations or people would freeze or flee, however her bravery is coming through as she can confidently walk through scary new things (here's looking at you, garbage truck). Now she sniffs strangers, and have even taken treats and let strangers pet her. She doesn’t bark unless started by a new human in her space, which has only happened once, and will whine to let you know when she's ready for a walk or attention.

She is a medium energy dog, as 1-1.5 hours of walking will sufficiently tire her out. Her foster mom thinks she can handle more as Camilla has shown she loves her walks, always wanting to sniff every last inch of grass while outside.

She’s crate trained, and does not show any separation anxiety. However, part of her rehabilitation is that she has to interact and be around her humans, and thus isn't allowed to be in her crate all day. She only destroys (and sometimes eats) her toys, but she doesn't touch any of her foster family's things. Camilla is also potty trained, however the hustle and bustle of the city can distract her from her task at hand, and have had a couple of pee accidents in the house. Her foster family and her have found a schedule that works for her, and have not had any accidents since!

Camilla is being fostered with a toddler, and has shown a high level of patience for the noise and antics. She is calm and very tolerant of him. Her leash skills are improving and walks alongside motorless vehicles (i.e. strollers) very well!

She has very mismatched ears that make her look a bit confused... all of the time, but she's truly a smart pup!

She's learning to play, and really wants to befriend her foster sibling, but they just haven't yet found their groove. She is, however, dog social and appropriately greets any dog she sees on walks. She's really starting to come out of her shell but she'll only give you a kiss when she trusts you.

Camilla doesn't resource guard towards humans, but shows some tendencies towards her foster sibling, with only low growls when they get too close while she's eating. We're working on it! We think she will do well in a home by herself or with another dog, so long as her adoptive family will continue her rehabilitation and start training her once she has bonded with you. She has not had exposure to cats, but has not shown prey drive with squirrels or birds.
